Dentures offer a practical and effective way to restore your smile and oral functionality. Our dental team is pleased to provide high-quality removable teeth to new and existing patients who have experienced the loss of some or all of their teeth. These dentures are custom-crafted to fit the individual patient’s mouth and specific tooth replacement needs. They provide both a cosmetic and functional replacement solution for tooth loss.
To make the dental plates, we first take a series of impressions of the patient’s jaw, teeth, and gums, along with several measurements. We then craft, test, and adjust a model until the color, shape, and fit of the denture perfectly meet the patient’s unique needs. Once ready, we send the model to the dental lab to cast the permanent denture. Finally, we fit the patient with the permanent denture and make any necessary minor adjustments to ensure comfort and fit.
Types of Dentures
Conventional Full Dentures
Conventional Full Dentures are a great option if you need replacement for all of your upper and/or lower teeth. Once your gums have fully healed from any extractions, we take impressions and measurements of your jaws and gums. We use these to craft a custom model of your future denture. After adjusting the model for fit, we send it to the lab to create the denture. Once complete, we fit the denture to your mouth, making any minor adjustments needed to ensure a secure, comfortable fit.
Partial Dentures
Also known as Dental Bridges, are a replacement for one or more missing teeth. Besides the aesthetic reason for bridges, patients often choose to have a bridge to prevent teeth from rotating or shifting into the empty spaces caused by tooth loss. A standard bridge places a crown on the teeth surrounding the empty space, then attaches a replacement tooth to those crowns. We will match the replacement to the patient’s natural teeth for a consistent look to their smile.
Denture Creation Process
To create the perfect dental plates, we take a series of impressions of your jaw, teeth, and gums, along with several measurements. We craft, test, and adjust a model until the color, shape, and fit are just right for your unique needs. Once we finalize the model, we send it to the dental lab to cast the permanent denture. Finally, you receive your new dentures, and we make any necessary minor adjustments to ensure optimal comfort and fit.
Maintaining Your Dentures
Proper care and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and comfort of your dentures. Follow these guidelines to keep your dentures in top condition:
• Clean your dental plates regularly using a soft bristle toothbrush and a non-abrasive cleanser to prevent plaque buildup.
• Follow up with our dental team as recommended for adjustments to maintain proper fit and comfort.
• Replace your dental plates every 5-10 years, as necessary. Ask our doctor to evaluate whether your dentures should be refit or replaced.
Conclusion
Dental plates provide a reliable and effective solution for restoring your smile and maintaining oral health.
